Office Manager - Student Support and Advocacy Center

The Student Support and Advocacy Center is committed to providing an empowering environment for all Mason students to seek support services and to explore healthy life choices. SSAC offers educational programming, one-on-one consultations, and resources in the areas of sexual and interpersonal violence and substance use. Center staff also assist students encountering barriers to personal success.

The Office Manager will report to the Associate Director of SSAC.

Responsibilities: * Staff the front desk and serve as the first point of contact for all visitors to the Center; * Greet and assist all incoming visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner; * Provide compassionate navigation of campus resources to students, as needed; * Oversee incoming phone and e-mail communication; * Communicate with other SSAC staff to address incoming student needs; * Supervise front desk student employees, including their recruitment, selection, hiring, and training; * Coordinate front desk coverage and overall operation of the front office area; * Attend weekly staff meetings; * Manage office and individual staff member calendars, and schedule appointments, as needed; * Participate in University workshops, meetings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform position responsibilities; * Develop and maintain close working relationships with a wide range of university offices and personnel; * Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with university policy, local, state, and federal laws; * Provide support in the planning and execution of departmental events and initiatives, as needed; and * Assist the Director and Associate Director with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent; * Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; * Strong commitment to service philosophy; * Ability to work in a diverse community; * Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues, including interactions with students in crisis and students who experienced trauma; * Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; * Drive and flexibility to work in a high-paced environment with frequent interruptions; and * Proficient in word processing, various software programs, Microsoft Office suite, phone and e-mail systems.

Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree; * Demonstrated full-time work experience in a university setting within student affairs or equivalent.
