Program Coordinator, Film and Video Studies
The Film and Video Studies program at George Mason University is hiring a part time staff person to manage program communications, alumni relations, events management, and development support. This position is not open to undergraduate students.
Responsibilities: * Support and develop externally facing events and activities working with the Film and Video Studies faculty, staff, students and College of Visual and Performing Arts Development office; * Manage and create program communications including Film at Mason mission-driven messaging, community engagement, and outreach; * Manage and support alumni relations, promote alumni activities; * Manage internal and external events including our student film showcases and staged screenplay readings (ex. the Fall Showcase and Mason Film Festival in Spring.) Shape and promote the "Best of Film at Mason" traveling exhibition, and other Mason film exhibitions off-site. Support the Visiting Filmmakers Series; * Manage and support the Film and Video Studies Advisory Board; * Manage and support external relationships with vendors and community partners; * Manage and support promotion of the creative activities of faculty, staff, part-time faculty, alumni and promote student achievement in the cinematic arts at Film at Mason; and * Will handle confidential information and records, requiring discretion.
Required Qualifications: * The ideal candidate has development and communication experience in a non-profit, educational, film, media arts, or related organization; * Strong written and oral communication skills required; * A commitment to diversity and inclusion and appreciation for the mission of Film at Mason. Film at Mason is a community of cinematic storytellers that fosters creativity, analysis, and diverse perspectives, professional practice and socially conscious filmmaking.
Preferred Qualifications * Social media and web publishing experience; and * Self-starter and working independently and in a team.
