The Mary Hoch Center for Reconciliation (MHCR) is seeking to appoint a Program Assistant to assist in developing the Center and deliver a comprehensive range of tasks.

About the Department: The Mary Hoch Center for Reconciliation (MHCR) at the George Mason University School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) joins a vibrant scholarship and practitioner community. At S-CAR, theory, research, and practice are integrated, informing each other and expanding the field of conflict resolution and peace studies. S-CAR is a leader in Mason's commitment to be a university for the world, leveraging our long history of research and practice in real world conflicts and our strength in preparing graduates to engage in local and global challenges. We are internationally recognized as the leader of the field and preeminent school to study conflict resolution at all levels.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director, the Program Assistant will support all aspects of programmatic design and delivery and lead collaborations with other centers and organizations. MHCR is looking for someone who has existing knowledge of key partners, proven skill to organize events, ability to independently implement program deliverables, and knowledge of reconciliation practice. Candidates are asked to present prior experience of coordinating programs across a diverse range of stakeholders, record of fundraising experience, launching new initiatives within the field of reconciliation and abilities to represent the vision and mission of MHCR to a wide range of audiences within the US and globally. Salary is $20,000. While the position is 50% it may increase with available program funding.

The work of MHCR will be focused on the primary areas: * Research on reconciliation practices and how faith, traditional and indigenous narratives mitigate conflicts and heal community relationships. * Provide trainings and support for insider reconcilers and field-based practitioners who work in conflicts. * Convene insider reconcilers, practitioners, policy makers, and academics to facilitate multi-disciplinary perspectives to conflict resolution and reconciliation. * Provide process design support for reconciliation processes and assist in its implementation. * Develop and offer certification programs for insider reconcilers, practitioners, and civil servants in the practice of reconciliation. * Engage communities in the United States in the practice of reconciliation, including support for indigenous communities on reconciliation.

Program Assistant Job Specifications: * Lead design and delivery of collaborative meetings on reconciliation with key stake-holders * Coordinate launching events with various stakeholders * Coordinate fundraising efforts with S-CAR development, with support from the MHCR Advisory Board * Oversee development of communications platform and design materials * Work with the Director on all relevant project proposals and materials * Represent MHCR at relevant events and meetings in the US and internationally * Build and maintain strong relations with partners of MHCR * Develop and support new initiatives and collaborations of MHCR * Coordinate student engagement and collaboration with other S-CAR centers

Required Qualifications: * Exceptional organization skills and collaborative approach * Strong inter-personal skills and demonstrated experience engaging across diverse stakeholders * Proposal writing and reporting skills * Proven public speaking and facilitation skills * Proactive and independent

Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated experience in collaborations with multi-track stakeholders * Demonstrated experience in project management across competing tasks and priorities * Demonstrated experience supporting grassroots reconciliation programs and process design both inside and outside the US * Demonstrated experience facilitating multi-track engagement and collaboration in the field of reconciliation * Additional languages spoken is a plus * Master's Degree or higher
