FAM Construction, LLC is a joint venture between Ferrovial Agroman and Allan Myers. Ferrovial has been active in the North American transportation industry since 1999. Ferrovial's experience includes some of the largest, most complex transportation projects in the United States. Allan Myers is the largest heavy civil construction company and materials provider in the Mid-Atlantic. Together they have been awarded the Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway project, this project involves multi-modal improvements to 22.5 miles of I-66 corridor from I-495 in Fairfax County to University Boulevard in Prince William County. The project features two express lanes alongside three regular lanes in each direction, with space in the median for future transit; corridor-wide bike and pedestrian improvements; and safety and operational improvements at key interchanges throughout the corridor. Role Summary:. Under direction of the Survey Manager, the Party Chief of FAM Construction, LLC coordinates the activities of a field survey party and performs the most technically complex paraprofessional field surveying duties. Responsibilities. Acts as the chief party for field survey crews engaged in making plane and / or geodetic surveys for construction, topography, right-of-way, and control survey projects. Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contracting representatives. Assigns and monitors work, and provides input for evaluation of members of field survey crew. Instructs and trains survey crew in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures. Gathers field survey data through use of conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods:. Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles. Prepares field notes and drawings. Performs field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines. Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, personal computer, and graphics and coordinate geometry (Cogo) software, such as AutoCAD-Softdesk. Analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy. Provides survey information for Geographic Information System (GIS). Prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records, and other survey reports. Researches existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents; and maintains field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems. Requirements. 5 (five) years of paraprofessional civil engineering experience, including at least one year of journey-level surveying experience. Knowledge of principles and practices of land surveying, including boundary determination, legal descriptions, construction, topographic surveying, and GIS. Knowledge of field surveying practices and techniques, including radial staking. Knowledge of survey instruments, including electronic total station, data collector, network control stations, and GPS measuring equipment;. Knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations regarding subdivisions of land, boundary locations, mapping, and surveying practices. **FAM Construction, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer**.
