Reports to: Director of Advancement. Function: The Director of Alumni Affairs & Giving is responsible for the planning and. implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage alumni to provide. tangible benefits to the school, the alumni community, and current students. This position is responsible for planning and implementation of all Alumni-related events, programs and engagement in a strategic way that strengthens the Alumni Association and their connection to the school. The Director works in collaboration with the Director of Advancement, the Associate Director of Advancement, and the Director of Individual Giving to meet these goals. Serving as an ambassador, the Director of Alumni Affairs & Giving is charged with. securing commitments from alumni to provide volunteer service; partnering with Advancement colleagues to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni giving;. collaborating with colleagues in the administrative offices (including, but not limited to. Advancement, Communications, and Admissions) to create and maintain pathways for. alumni participation that advance the goals of St. Andrew's; and serving as a liaison. between the Alumni Association, the Alumni Council and the academic and. administrative leadership. Duties and Responsibilities. Serve as the primary fundraiser for the Alumni Lions Fund, seeking to secure $115,000 or more in annual giving from alumni. Specific duties include collaborating with colleagues to set an annual solicitation schedule and strategy, produce a series of print and digital appeals, participate in individual solicitation meetings, and inspire high levels of participation across all class years. The Director of Alumni Affairs & Giving will also engage alumni in an Annual Giving Day and a Reunion Giving Program, and collaborate with the Director of Individual Giving to cultivate alumni within the major gift program. Produce and oversee all alumni communications efforts, including email newsletters, print communications, and digital content for the website and social media, as well as creatively envisioning and implementing new ways to communicate and connect with alumni. The Director will also support the Communications Office in the production of the school magazine, including collecting Class Notes and identifying alumni for profile opportunities. Organize and administer an active program of Alumni Association volunteers with the goal of increasing connections and empowering alumni give back to St. Andrew's with their time and talent. This includes recruiting, guiding, and supporting a group of 50-100 volunteers; including the Alumni Council, Class Agents, Reunion Chairs, Giving Day Advocates, Alumni of Color Network Leaders, and Young Alumni Representatives. Plan and implement a calendar of alumni engagement events with the dual goals of helping alumni connect with one another and with the school. These events range in size and scope, and include Reunion Weekend, Young Alumni Day, and various regional outings and off-campus events. The Director is encouraged to be creative in identifying and planning a variety of events that will resonate with our diverse community of alumni. Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni through individual outreach and off campus meetings. Periodic regional travel may be required. Support and develop a nascent Professional Networking Initiative to help alumni forge professional connections with fellow St. Andrew's graduates in their current or prospective industry. Support and cultivate the Alumni of Color Network, and any future alumni affinity groups that form, to help build a sense of community within smaller identity groups within the Alumni Association. Partner with the Director of Development, Operations, and Strategy to ensure accurate record-keeping within the department database (Raiser's Edge); including frequent and proactive audits and updates of alumni data, and the careful and diligent tracking of all meaningful interactions with alumni. Manage the Alumni Affairs budget within the overall Advancement Budget. The Director of Alumni Affairs & Giving will also be encouraged to participate in the life of the school through teaching, coaching and/or advising students or student groups. Qualifications:. A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in a fundraising, communications, or marketing role. Prior experience in alumni affairs of an independent school or college--either as a professional or volunteer-- is preferred. Candidates should be people-oriented, creative and high energy, with strong organizational and writing skills. Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge software is a plus.
