Overview The Accounting department provides service to The Wills Group, Inc. and its subsidiary corporations. The incumbent reports directly to the Fixed Assets Accountant in the performance of duties. The incumbent is to be knowledgeable of basic general ledger sources and the flow of accounting data. The essential function of the Fixed Assets Coordinator is to support all aspects of the fixed assets life cycle and related fixed assets journals, reconciliations, and maintenance. The position will also confirm asset invoice coding, prepare month end journal entries, maintain multiple reconciliations, set up and maintain construction in process projects, and perform special projects. Accountabilities Maintain the fixed assets system, including adding new assets and/or scrapping old assets. Maintain the construction in process list by setting up new projects, converting finished projects to assets, entering project budgets, and closing out terminated projects Verify assets invoices for correct GL coding. Prepare month end recurring journal entries. Maintain monthly general ledger reconciliations, including identifying issues and processing corrections. Maintain rent payment system and prepare monthly rent payments. Prepare monthly capital plan using actual and budgeted costs Prepare annual personal property tax returns and ensure timely payment of tax bills Perform various special projects, accounting and analytical work as assigned. Required Qualifications Undergraduate accounting degree desired but associate degree or related college accounting courses may be accepted. A minimum of two years accounting experience is expected in the absence of an undergraduate degree. Strong general ledger knowledge, as well as strong research and analytical skills are essential to fulfilling the duties of this position. Technical use of Excel is required. Position requires the incumbent to work in a climate controlled office environment using standard office equipment including telephone, calculator, photocopy machine and PC computer, with the ability to utilize server applications. Position will require some standing, stooping and bending to perform routine daily filing. Lifting requirements are restricted to no more than 20 pounds which may be to re-arrange office machines in work area or to lift boxes of archive files for storage or photocopy paper to fill machine.
