Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to work on our inpatient adult psychiatric units who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. The inpatient psychiatric unit at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center is a 133-bed unit serving children, adolescents, adults and older adults. The Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for overseeing an adult caseload of an average of 25 patients with a team of psychiatrists.

Work Schedule:

This full-time position will work Monday through Friday. Call requirements may include one weekend call in every 10 weekends (Friday 5:00 PM - Monday 8:00 AM) and one weeknight call per week (5:00 PM - 8:00 AM). Additional weekend or weeknight call paid at contractor rate.

Qualified candidates will possess:
  • Master's degree or higher from a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner program with at least 500 clinical hours accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
  • Experience working in an inpatient environment treating psychotic, mood, and substance abuse disorders preferred.
  • Active registered nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland
  • Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work well on a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Excellent skills in maintaining highly confidential information
  • Skilled in compiling clinical documentation in a timely manner
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record preferred
