Date: November 1, 2019 Position Title: Manager, Human Resources Reports To: Chief Operating Officer Status : Exempt Organization Overview: ASAM is a medical professional society representing more than 6,000 members with 50 staff and a $10M annual operating budget. It is an energetic, fast-paced organization with multi-faceted opportunities in the area of addiction medicine. Position Summary: The Human Resources Manager is directly responsible for professional performance of human resourcerelated functions including recruitment/employment, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, policy implementation and employment law compliance. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. The manager must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs. Responsibilities/Duties: * Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to all personnel * Ensures compliance with company policy * Identifies appropriate and effective sources for candidates, manages targeted advertisements of positions, screens candidate's resumes for consideration and coordinates the interview process. * Maintains all employee and applicant documentation; ensures personnel files are complete and accurate. * Responsible for written employment offers and conducting background and reference checks. * Updates and administers a consistent and effective on-boarding process. * Identifies and arranges staff professional development training opportunities - either in person or through the online learning center. * Offboarding: Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the executive team. Ensures deactivation of employee in the ASAM systems. * Manages employment verifications, unemployment claims, COBRA, worker compensation, employee disability claims and completes, verifies and maintains I-9 documentation. * Maintains up-to-date online employee handbook; communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures proper compliance. * Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process. Enrolls employees in the benefits and reconciles the monthly payment processing. * Responsible for securing individuals to fill temporary staffing requirements. * Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters; advises others and assists with the administration of employee relations. Education and Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or similar experience. * Must understand employment laws and regulations (ADA, FLSA, FMLA, EEO, etc.) * SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or ability to attain credential within 12 months Skills and Abilities: * Can understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, or regulations to specific situations. * Exercises judgement and discretion. * Demonstrated success handling sensitive and confidential information, situations and documentation. * Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively, efficiently and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization. * Organized, detail oriented * Proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Able to work on several tasks at the same time and complete assignments and tasks effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.
