HR Employment Specialist

Responsibilities: Conducts life-cycle recruitment of employees from creation to hiring to include position advertisement, applicant screening, and communicating with the employing supervisor; provides assistance in the development of recruitment plans; coordinates and manages staffing needs with temporary agencies and employing supervisors; provides backup coverage of new employee orientation; conducts training for department staff and supervisors, as needed, on employment matters including, but not limited to, briefing Search Committees; completing employment forms; and PeopleAdmin; conducts salary surveys and market studies; ensures up-to-date job descriptions for all employees in the personnel file and assist supervisors with completion as appropriate; assists with implementation of specialized programs and trainings of faculty and staff; communicates with supervisors about the status of their advertised position; provides as needed backup support in labor and employee relations, compensation, benefits, employment verification, or other areas in the Office of Human Resources.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. PHR or other Human Resources certification desired.  Minimum three (3) years experience in human resources to include one (1) year of recruiting experience required. Applicant Tracking System experience preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS database software.  Knowledge of employee recruitment and employment processes and procedures. Skilled in using computers and software to include Windows/Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); in organizing and executing multiple assignments under specific time constraints. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to provide guidance and training to others; to maintain poise and courtesy under pressure; to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact; and to accurately perform mathematical computations; to operate standard office equipment.   

Conditions of Employment:  May work some evenings and travel locally to job fairs.

SALARY:  $50,000 - $55,000                                                                       RANGE:  II
