About the Position: This is a Training Systems Management Specialist position located at Army Training Support Center at Fort Eustis, VA. Fort Eustis, VA is located in Newport News, between Historic Colonial Williamsburg, and Virginia Beach. The Hampton Roads area has all the conveniences
of a large city with charm of small towns.

This is a TERM position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of work associated with Army Training Support System (TSS) requirements across the training domains: Operational, Institutional, and Self-Development.
  • Provides analytical research and subject matter expertise for requirements actions affecting training support systems.
  • Performs contractor officer representative (COR) duties in support of training support systems as necessary.
  • Participate in the development and/or review of strategic plans and emerging training and training support concepts based on analysis of modernization and technology trends.
  • Performs near, mid, and long-term tradeoff analysis and recommends appropriate allocation of resources to achieve strategic plans.
  • Conducts research and analysis to provide input to Army doctrine in assessments, generates courses of action, and recommends prioritization of training support requirements.

  • SUITABILITY: Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • SECRET CLEARANCE: This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • BUSINESS TRAVEL: This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 25% of the time.
  • CAREER PROGRAM 32 TRAINING: Incumbent must complete Career Program 32 Level I certification within 24 months of appointment.
  • OBLIGATED POSITION: This means that the position is encumbered to someone who has return rights, and must be vacated upon return of that employee. Please see "Additional Information" below.
  • TRIAL PERIOD: Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • TERM EMPLOYMENT: This is a Term position scheduled to last three years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work which includes 1) assisting in the development and review of upcoming training support coordination; 2) developing correspondence, such as information papers and executive summaries on training support actions and programs; AND 3) conducting research and analysis in order to provide input on the mitigation of training gaps and lapses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • This position is a TERM position. It is a time limited position and may be extended up to a maximum of six years.

    Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not to exceed one year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
