If selected you will be part of a technical support team whose function is to configure, install and maintain network equipment, life safety equipment, and software packages. The selectee will perform a variety of tasks including serving as the lead for maintaining network servers, network switches and data communication devices; focusing on device configuration and connectivity to optimize performance. The individual will implement procedures for the distribution of proprietary and commercial software at remote locations.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Typical work assignments may include: Analyzing problems on network operations and current systems. Recommending enhancements to improve performance and operations or to solve unique network problems. Planning, installing and maintaining the customer's IT architecture. Implementation and administration of systems for the storage and retrieval of data. Testing, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of life safety equipment. Timely response to customer requests in the form of site assistance and/or training.Travel is required for the position: Local day trips from Aberdeen to the National Capital Region up to about 25% Occasional travel with overnight stays in the Washington, DC, or Columbus, OH, areas. THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED Active Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering or equivalent Minimum 2 years experience Proficiency with computer hardware and networking Competency with configuring Windows Operating Systems Strong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work within an environment of conflicting deadlines and shifting priorities. Ability and willingness to participate in hands-on equipment, installation, and maintenance work subject to the physical requirements noted below. The work requires: the agility to access and navigate unfinished spaces, frequent walking and bending. Carrying equipment of up to a limit of 50 lb. as recommended by NIOSH for a single person carry. During travel, work hours will often extend outside the normal 9-hour day which can include working evenings and weekends.
