For more information about College Track, visit our website: The Position: The Math Interventionist is a critical member of the Academic Affairs team. This person is responsible for designing and delivering direct math instruction in a tutoring context, using pertinent data to determine students gaps in mathematical knowledge. Using various means of explanation and instruction aligned with the individual needs of each student, the Math Interventionist will lead two to three math classes daily. These classes will help students progress towards the district s math content standards. The ultimate goals of the Math Interventionist are to help College Track students see themselves as able to excel in this subject and to ensure that all College Track students are able to maximize their potential. The Math Interventionist will collaborate with the Academic Affairs Director and Academic Coaches to implement programming that meet the math needs of each student. The goal of the Academic Affairs program is to give students the academic support necessary to graduate from high school ready to enroll in college. For most students, this means a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and an ACT English score of an 18 and an ACT Math score of 22 or higher. The Math Interventionist will manage a caseload of students to positive academic outcomes; plan and teach a class that supports ninth grade students in filling in gaps in their understanding of math; lead academic workshops; provide academic advising; connect with teachers, counselors, and families; input and monitor student data; administer practice tests; and complete other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: Work approximately 20-25 hours per week, generally between 2 pm and 7 pm on weekdays. Some work on selected weekends expected. Provide robust math instruction to ninth grade students Plan and deliver daily math lessons that fill in gaps in students understanding and empowers them to access content moving forward Oversee the success of a cohort of students via advising, programming support, outreach, and data analysis Embed and model academic habits organization, time management, self-advocacy, and study habits in mentorship of all students Participate in weekly meetings to discuss student needs and design scholastic interventions Collect, analyze, and use data to suggest and create program improvements Complete administrative tasks including, but not limited to, maintaining the center, monitoring technology, taking attendance, chaperoning field trips, entering data, and contacting parents and teachers Attend onboarding and orientation prior to the start of the spring session as well as professional development and networking opportunities provided by College Track outside of work hours Meet regularly with Academic Affairs Director to discuss student progress Qualifications : Minimum of a bachelor s degree or currently pursuing a bachelor s degree Experience teaching/ tutoring high school students in the field of math Ability to teach mathematical concepts through a variety of techniques Possesses and demonstrates the College Track core values, including joy, passion, excellence, authenticity, commitment Able to explain the relevance of presented material Passion for and commitment to college access and success Experience working with a diverse population of students in a relevant program area (eg tutoring or teaching, college advising, or youth development) Outstanding problem-solving skills Ability to quickly build rapport with students and keep them motivated and productive High level of self-awareness, humility, and emotional intelligence Cleared background check and TB test before start date Compensation: This position is a part-time, non-exempt hourly position. Compensation is commensurate with experience beginning at $18.00.
