The Director of Nursing serves as the detoxification program's administrator and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a licensed inpatient medically supervised stabilization and withdrawal management service. Carries out the Wellbridge vision, values and overall strategic planning, clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management and quality management. Promotes service standards and creates a patient-focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of all patients. Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses and other healthcare team members. Leadership 1. Support a culture of high quality of care across organization. 2. Provide on-site nursing leadership to all treatment programs. 3. Work collaboratively with the Medical Director to oversee the development of personalized treatment plans for each individual Wellbridge patient. 4. Maintain understanding of current treatments, knowledge, and practices in addiction care. 5. Serve as a member of the Wellbridge senior management team. 6. Strategically identify opportunities for translational medicine and innovation. 7. Collaborate with Wellbridge research team to develop a measurement-based care system to guide program improvement. 8. Foster clinician and staff development. 9. Manage and promote relationship with academic and research institutions to promote addiction research and training. Program Management 1. Provide management for daily operations of a licensed inpatient medically supervised stabilization and withdrawal management service including pharmacy services 2. Develop and maintain standard policies, procedures to ensure quality services and compliance with accrediting entities. 3. Provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of the clinical program to ensure that patient needs and Wellbridge standards are met. 4. Prioritize the use of best and evidence-based practices, including researching programming trends and current practices being used in the field. 5. Maintain documentation, patient files, and statistics as required by agency policies and funding sources. 6. Manage patient outcome tracking in patient and research database. Develops, prepares and monitors the personnel, supply and equipment budgets in collaboration with the staff and support department. Develops long-term unit staffing schedules and ensures adequate daily coverage in accordance with established staffing needs. Develops measures and monitors unit operational performance metrics inclusive of agency and overtime costs, vacancy and turnover rates. Supervision and Support 1. Model the Wellbridge philosophy of patient-centeredness, empowerment, and cultural proficiency and provide direct clinical supervision of all nursing staff 2. Collaborates with leadership team to establish nursing care standards and evaluates staff compliance 3. Develops unit goals and objectives to support the institutional values and goals, with input from staff 4. Identifies research protocols effecting the patient population served and keeps nursing staff informed 5. Facilitates the effective provision of support services essential to patient care. 6. Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients that is conducive to positive health teaching, and maintenance; patient and family expectations of care; develops mechanism to assess same 7. Recognizes the need for patient care to be delivered in a culturally sensitive manner and models sensitivity to staff 8. Provide crisis support to therapists and patients, as needed Planning and Coordination 1. Hires, educates and evaluates staff 2. Conduct regular clinical team meetings 3. Work closely with the advocacy, residential, and legal teams to coordinate services to patients 4. Works with leadership team to counsel, discipline and terminate staff, as needed 5. Makes recommendations and provides opportunities for growth and development of personnel and arranges for appropriate education and training. 6. Is able to identify at least one potential successor to the Nurse Manager role 7. Responds in a timely fashion to staff concerns and functions proactively to retain staff 8. Establishes unit metrics and goals to measure effectiveness of retention strategies. 9. Meet with the Executive Leadership team to review issues affecting patient care, patient satisfaction, and general operations and performance 10. Assist with community presentations, as applicable Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, required Licensed, in good standing, as a clinician in the State of New York Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience including previous supervisory experience Minimum of 1 year of prior nursing experience in addiction-related care Clinical competences in phlebotomy and point-of-care (POC) testing Familiarity with all relevant healthcare standards: OASAS, ASAM, JCAHO, etc. Demonstrated leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, required Preferred Qualifications Master's in Nursing or Doctoral Degree, preferred Experience with stabilization and withdrawal management and settings Clinical experience providing treatment for addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders Experience in an addiction rehabilitation environment Experience with therapeutic groups (preferably addiction-oriented), therapeutic communities, and inpatient care Experience evaluating program effectiveness and implementing data-driven process improvement, preferably in medical education or hospital administration Knowledge of medication assisted treatment (MAT) and how behavioral interventions can support and improve outcomes for MAT Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team Experience managing and prioritizing various projects and ability to make decisions as warranted Strong problem solving, conceptual, analytical, and communication skills Ability to deal with complex issues using academic and administrative judgment with a high degree of discretion and diplomacy Ability to create a positive, respectful, collaborative, and team-focused environment We are an Equal Opportunity Employer-affording equal employment opportunities to all qualified persons without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, marital status, genetic information, disabilityor protected veteran status.
