Responsibilities

  • You will advise end users in the implementation of information technology (IT) strategy, policy, and guidance.
  • You will evaluate evolving information technology (IT) to determine the impact on current operations, material requirements, and plans.
  • You will oversee technical planning of information technology (IT) security initiatives to ensure architecture requirements are met.
  • You will track information technology (IT) project expenditures to provide resource status reports.
  • You will advise employees on information technology (IT) program goals and objectives.
  • You will advise employees on work-related issues to overcome obstacles.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final top secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 752, within 6 months of appointment.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Information Technology Career Field Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and/or commercial aircraft.


Qualifications

Your resume must reflect a minimum of one year of information technology-related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
  • Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
  • In addition to the four competencies above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector performing duties such as: 1) managing or assisting in the management of Information Technology(IT); 2) leading or participating in projects related to infrastructure operating and maintenance plans for Information Assurance (IA) and IT, through evaluation of system design, condition, constraints, future requirements, etc.; 3) conducting reviews of IT plans and policies to ensure alignment with business and operational requirements as well as changes in legislation or regulatory requirements.
