SANS is the recognized world leader in cybersecurity training, certification, and research. Via live instruction, multi-course events, and four online training platforms, SANS delivers top-level, practical training in every topical area of cybersecurity, including Cyber Defense, Digital Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR), Penetration Testing & Ethical Hacking, DevSecOps, Industrial Control Systems, and Security Management. Each niche, or curriculum, has a curriculum leader who guides the content of the courseware, a faculty of SANS Certified Instructors who author and teach courses, a business manager, and marketing support. This Curriculum Marketing Manager will act as that marketing support, directing the marketing plan development, community engagement, goal setting, campaign execution, and program oversight for the Security Management and DevSecOps curricula. The person selected for this role will develop a strategic, integrated marketing plan to grow and engage their community and to increase sales of their courses and certifications. You will be expected to execute on a wide range of marketing campaigns that position SANS as the thought leader in each practice area and for each topic covered in your courses. This Curriculum Marketing Manager will also serve as the primary interface between their curriculum teams (instructors and business manager) and the marketers promoting live and online instruction globally as needed. This Curriculum Marketing Manager will report to the Director, Brand Marketing, with dotted-line responsibility to the business manager for the Security Management and DevSecOps curricula. We are looking for an individual who has a curiosity about the business and curriculum, integrity, passion, tenacity, humility, and a desire to pursue excellence. The successful candidate will be a lifelong learner, willing to go the extra mile, and will invest a significant amount of time reading and researching to identify emerging trends and new technologies. The ideal candidate for this position is also an entrepreneurial self-starter and organizer who enjoys multi-tasking and bringing many disparate marketing tasks to completion simultaneously and on-time. They must engage in hands-on execution of marketing tasks, maintain a self-starter and can-do attitude, and be willing to lead and complete entire efforts without detailed oversight once a particular strategy has been set. This position requires a broad range of marketing and content management skills, including facility with written content development, experience with both print and digital marketing campaigns, the management of small marketing events and trade-show engagement, and the proven ability to organize multiple efforts over time. In addition, the ability to collaborate with course authors and instructors to create specialized content and develop course positioning is a must. It is preferred that this person also possesses previous experience in or deep familiarity with the cybersecurity industry. What You'll Do In order to achieve the growth, engagement, and sales goals to be set for the Security Management and DevSecOps curricula, the marketing manager will deploy successful marketing campaigns and own their implementation from content creation through performance analysis. This will require the development and support of webcasts, blogs, videos, web pages, social media, print, digital advertising, trade shows, partnerships, newsletters, branding, and more. Detailed Responsibilities: Produce creative, valuable, and engaging content that attracts our target prospects, for use on our website, in our social media presence, and for print materials Oversee the creative development of promotional materials, web page updates and launches, advertisements, and other marketing-related materials, often in partnership with members of the central, live event, and online training marketing teams Oversee the development of relevant and effective course descriptions and instructor profiles, and manage the deployment of those across our website and print collateral Engage in digital marketing plans and execution, including Google advertising, search marketing, web banners, social media, and third-party advertisements, blogs, and podcasts Attend industry conferences as a representative of SANS and the courses, certifications, and instructors of your curriculum Coordinate instructor development, including the writing and editing of professional biographies, social media support, event appearances, and more Measure and report performance of marketing campaigns, gain insight and assess against a goal Create and promote thought leadership to stoke demand for and credibility of SANS cyber defense training Demonstrate a solid grasp of trends and topics within the community that you manage including developments and changes taking place, trending topics, and current challenges Lead the charge in developing your community, and perform community outreach to maintain awareness of customer perceptions and industry needs, and to encourage continuous interaction between SANS and our target prospects Interact with the sales team regularly to communicate the features and benefits of your courses, and to provide resources to support them in their sales efforts Manage marketing project budgets and schedules Qualifications and Skills Strong self-starter with high degree of initiative to drive projects to completion Minimum of 5 years' experience in the cyber security market is strongly preferred Experience with both traditional and digital marketing channel and processes Ability to clearly and effectively convey ideas and recommendations Ability to listen to and integrate thoughts of a wide variety of partners across the organization Strong communications, writing and marketing skills An eye for design and attention to detail Ability to develop schedules and maintain deadlines Collaboration skills with cross-functional teams - creative, IT, production, and marketing Familiarity with the creative process and an understanding of branding Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business or Communications Certifications and other designations that indicate the candidate is a lifelong learner Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Position Requirements This position requires the Curriculum Marketing Manager to be available and working during standard business hours, Monday through Friday from 8AM - 5PM ET. You will work from your home, and must have an appropriate space and environment to work from. SANS supplies remote employees with appropriate technology and telecommunications support for their home offices. SANS and SANS-related third-party events occur frequently around the world, including on nights, weekends, and holidays. The execution of the marketing manager's duties occurs at these events and sometimes requires evening, weekend, and holiday attendance. This position requires travel approximately ten to fifteen times per year, once a year outside of the US, and will sometimes include event setup and tear down.
