Are you passionate about promoting policies that create greater opportunity, fairness, and freedom for all people? As a key member of our collaborative and motivated communications team at Independent Women's Voice and Independent Women's Forum, the director of communications advances that mission by coordinating the day-to-day operations of the communications team. As the communications director, we would count on you to develop, drive, and evaluate integrated communication and marketing plans that deliver on the objectives and goals of the organization(s). Your proven ability to project manage simultaneous issue- and policy-specific education and advocacy campaigns is a plus. Types of activities include: Manage design, optimization, execution, and evaluation of multi-dimensional communications and marketing plans aimed at bracketing key issues and events and promoting IW's messages, campaigns, writing, research, and spokeswomen. Coordinate the development and distribution of supplemental communications and marketing products including press releases, statements, opeds, videos, infographics, project and issue reports, and other materials. Monitor news and identify communication opportunities and challenges; provide counsel on IW actions. Evaluate communications and marketing efforts: document performance metrics, analyze overall effectiveness and impact of programs, and refine communication and marketing efforts based on learnings. Assist with the execution of issue- and policy-specific education and advocacy campaign strategies, tactics, metrics, and reporting to ensure campaign effectiveness. Synthesize and present key results to the communications team, leadership, and stakeholders. Cultivate relationships with the media - national, regional, state news outlets - including women-specific media. Collaborate with the communications team to create and maintain targeted media lists. Compose and distribute event advisories, press releases, statements, and other outbound communications materials. Advise, motivate, and mentor a team of high-performance, driven communications professionals. The goals are to: Drive communication and marketing strategies that are based on data-insights, vision, and goals to advance IW business objectives, make an impact, and have measurable results. Insert IW voice, impact conversations on important policy issues, and build trust, enthusiasm, engagement, and support of key audiences. Increase bracketing and rapid response activities and effectiveness Elevate brand awareness and recognition, strengthening organization(s) influence and impact. Reach target audiences through selective participation in mainstream, women and millennial-specific media outlets (TV, radio, print, blogs). You will report to the vice president of communications and work closely with the communications, policy, and development departments. Candidates should be able to work in a virtual office setting.
