A' The Senior Director, Solutions Architecture isA' a newly created technology leadership role and reports directly to the VP, Information Technology.A' The Senior Director, Solutions Architecture A' will work with business leaders and external stakeholders to enhance technology capabilities and is a critical contributor to ensuring that system capabilities meet organizational needs.A' The Senior Director will serve as atechnology subject matter expert and/or technical consultant, leading projects that involve a moderate to high degree of risk or may impact enterprise-wide performance. **This position is based in our McLean, VA corporate headquarters**A' A' ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides guidance and oversight of the technology team developing and supporting online schools. Provides technology vision over emerging curriculum and learning platform; establishes and maintains best practices for support and execution. Provides technical analyses to help define, assess and monitor the technical aspects of the program/project or services. Researches and analyzes advanced technology trends within area of expertise. Identifies emerging trends and initiates research projects for team members. Coordinates the assessment of emerging technologies. Evaluates and may recommend new products or tools for the organization. Contributes to a cost-benefit and risk analysis and presents options to Management team. Works with service providers to ensure that their in-scope technical solutions are consistent with the enterprise business strategy and architecture. Serves as a consultant, trusted advisor and, as necessary, escalation point for issues. Provides project managers with technical consultation and advice, enabling quick response to inquiries related to the program/project. Designs innovative solutions using new technologies. Recommends short-term alternatives when appropriate. Proposes designs at key milestone events. Troubleshoots existing information systems or networks to identify errors or deficiencies. Brainstorms possible solutions and evaluates alternatives against decision criteria. Leads and coordinates the resolution of support issues escalated by senior operations, development personnel or service provider personnel. Guides vendors during the problem resolution process as needed. Provides technical expertise across business functions. Identifies opportunities to improve business processes via new technologies. Perform extensive research and analysis to make optimal architecture and design decisions Works with service providers to ensure that their in-scope technical solutions are consistent with the enterprise business strategy and architecture. Work hand in hand with technology teams to drive continual improvement of our IT capabilities, help facilitate solutions, and maximize resource utilization Evaluate emerging technologies for feasibility and integration analysis A' WORK EXPERIENCE: 10 to 15 years of relevant technology experience preferably in a management capacity. A' OTHER REQUIREMENTS: In-depth understanding of education technology platforms or similar enterprise content solutions ITIL, or equivalent Certification. Documents processes and procedures as required. Must be familiar with Project management methodologies.
