Our Director, Public Policy is a leading member of our policy team. Practically speaking that means a lot of research, analysis, distillation, writing, organization, messaging, and legislative tracking. Our policy team covers an increasing range of issues including: life insurance, annuities, retirement policy, tax policy, investments, financial planning, genetics, cybersecurity, and standards of conduct. It also means contributing common sense and intellectual firepower to the development of our policy positions; an exercise that will stretch the boundaries of your mastery of policy, politics, decision-makers, and our members, their businesses, and the clients they serve. What does AALU look for in a successful team member? Culture and team chemistry are essential to our future success. Specifically, on the policy team we are looking for someone who is intellectually curious. Being able to manage consistent progress on several different projects along different timelines and meet deadlines is essential. Experience distilling complex policy and marketplace issues in a concise and understandable manner to varied audiences. Successful team members are able to take assignments, ask questions, then drive towards a result securing appropriate inputs from other team members and volunteers. For the Public Policy, Director, this also means some experience and a lot of interest in tax and financial services related policy. Minimum requirements: 4-6 years federal legislative and/or regulatory experience working on Capitol Hill or in an Administration Agency Tax, Financial Services, or Retirement experience desired Bachelor's degree Detail oriented | highly organized | strong written and oral communication skills | intellectual curiosity.
