About the Position: This is position located within US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 at Fort Eustis, Virginia. The Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 develops, integrates, and manages training operations and requirements, concepts, policies, plans; and directs operations continuously across TRADOC in support of CG TRADOC.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Director, G-33, working in the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) G-3/5/7, HQ TRADOC, and functions as the HQ TRADOC authoritative subject matter expert/consultant and advisor to the DCS, G-3/5 and DCS, G-3/5/7.
  • Provides personal leadership, management and supervision for the directorate, which is comprised of military and civilian personnel.
  • Provides direct technical guidance and advice in mission accomplishment over the wide spectrum of priorities, policies, programs, and procedures associated with contingency operations and general work within TRADOC, readiness reporting and taskings.
  • Provides for the synthesis, integration, and coordination of key plans and events involving operations and readiness both internally to TRADOC, and externally with principal members of the Army staff, other services and DoD.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: work that involves leading organizations; managing large programs with both operational and financial components; evaluating major policy and program requirements; and accomplishing long range and short term mission/program goals and objectives to achieve higher authority expected outcomes to established norms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

During a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, may be required to deploy or to perform temporary duty assignments overseas in support of military operations. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively, therefore, the position is designated emergency-essential. Emergency Essential employees must be exempted from military mobilization or recall obligations by being placed in the Standby Reserve or other appropriate action. Emergency Essential civilians are required to sign a DoD Form 2365. As a pre-condition of employment, Incumbent must meet requirements specified on SF78, Certificate of Medical Examination, and receive immunizations appropriate for overseas location. Physical examinations are also required annually to ensure employee meets physical requirements of an EE position. Incumbent may be required to take part in readiness exercises and training (Basic first aid; Basic soldier field survival skills; Laws of War/Geneva Conventions; Prisoner of War coping skills; Standards of Conduct; Proper wear, use and care of all issued clothing and equipment; Uniform Code of Military Justice; Customs and courtesies of host country; Sidearm training, when appropriate). Emergency Essential employees must be exempted from military mobilization or recall obligations by being placed in the Standby Reserve or other appropriate action.
