Formulates, implements and evaluates policies, initiatives and procedures in support of SSA's Continuity of Operations Planning and emergency response management programs. Serves as an SSA expert and internal focal point for emergency mobilization preparedness, natural disaster response and other emergency program responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates performance of subordinate employees and interviews candidates for staff positions, making recommendations for appointments, promotions, etc.
  • Advises/counsels subordinate employees and hears and resolves complaints.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for and advises SSA Deputy Commissioners, Associate Commissioner for OSEP and other high-level officials on all matters related to the ongoing operations of assigned functions.
  • Participates in long range planning to ensure the integration of office objectives with the agency?s initiatives.
  • Provides leadership in arranging and conducting conferences involving federal/state programs in the review of agency emergency preparedness planning proposals to bring agency direction and coordination to programs as needed.

Qualifications

You must have at least 52 weeks of *Specialized Experience as described below. This experience must have been gained in a federal position at or above GS-14 OR (if your position/experience is in another federal payscale or outside of federal service) by performing duties at a level equivalent to those performed in a federal position at or above GS-14. This specialized experience must have provided you with the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the functions of this GS-0301-15 Supervisory Emergency Response Coordinator position.

*Specialized Experience should primarily consist of developing, implementing or evaluating a team or organization's emergency response plans, policies or guidelines. Experience must also include leading or managing a team or project.

Duties of this nature should be typical of your everyday work. Your performance of duties relevant to the specialized experience must be clearly and specifically described in your resume. Experience from participation in a special project or workgroup is not creditable unless that experience equals 52 weeks at the required grade level. If your experience is in a federal position, you must state the grade of that position in your resume.
