Duties Create, maintain, and utilize personal relationships on Capitol Hill and in the Administration to create good public policy which benefits members of the union Draft and edit regulatory comments, internal legislative updates, and policy briefings for decision makers Analyze and propose legislation Train union members to have effective interactions with policy makers; provide advice and assistance as union members educate and lobby policy makers Build and extend relationships with allied groups, including other labor unions, progressive groups, transportation advocacy organizations, and others As part of the government affairs team, work on multi-faceted issue and political campaigns that effect legislation and the regulatory environment Advise and support the union's political team; attend political events Qualifications Several years of professional work experience in public policy, political campaigns, or the Labor movement Bachelor's degree in public policy, communications, political science, or related field Ability to self-motivate and passion for advocating on behalf of working families Wages and Benefits $80,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience Union health, vision, and dental insurance Defined-benefit pension and 401(k)
