Job Description - Linux IT Administrator and Laboratory Manager (22261) Job Description Linux IT Administrator and Laboratory Manager - 22261 Position Description Are you looking for a challenging position of responsibility managing mission-critical facilities and impacting leading-edge technology development efforts? Do you want to advance US defense capabilities in Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Targeting? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL. We are seeking a versatile, creative, and highly responsible technical professional to manage, equip, and maintain, multiple laboratory facilities, operating at different security classification levels, and to administer the IT infrastructure in those facilities. This position will be responsible for providing the hardware, software, and in certain cases the IT network infrastructure to enable experimentation for a number of leading-edge technology development efforts. In secure facilities, this position will work with the designated APL security and IT system administration units to manage IT infrastructure (hardware, software, network) and best apply it to experiments within established security policy and procedures. Our technology development efforts are building systems that automatically or autonomously orchestrate sensors, process data into information, and make intelligent inferences and predictions about complex threats and environments. Our work enables the US military to neutralize a wider variety of serious threats from safer distances than they could otherwise accomplish; improves the safety, survivability, and effectiveness of US air, naval, and ground forces; and disrupts the ability of potential adversaries to threaten our forces. As a Linux IT Administrator and Laboratory Manager Your primary responsibility will be to manage, equip, and maintain multiple laboratory facilities, operating at different security classification levels. You will provide the hardware and software infrastructure for technology development and testing including in-house and field experiments. You will collaborate with the designated APL security and IT system administration units as needed to provide the IT network infrastructure for in-house and field experiments. You will support test event preparation, coordination, execution, data management (including retrieval, transfer, and archiving), pre- and post-analysis, and documentation. You will install, configure, and apply software for a variety of development and experimentation. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you Have an Associate?s degree in a relevant technical field or a combination of equivalent recognized experience and/or certifications. Have at least five years of work experience in a relevant technical field. Have skills and experience administering IT systems in Linux environments. Have familiarity with scientific and engineering prototyping environments such as MATLAB and Python. Have strong inter-personal communications skills. Have the ability to work and collaborate effectively in a team environment. Have the ability to multi-task, support multiple, concurrent projects, and adapt to changing circumstances. Have familiarity with policy and procedures for working in secure areas. Are willing and able to work a portion of the time in secure, closed areas and travel occasionally to field test sites (local and non-local). Hold an active Secret security clearance and are able to obtain a TS/SCI-level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you Have a Bachelor?s degree in a relevant technical field. Have at least ten years of work experience in a relevant technical field. Have skills and experience administering IT systems in both Linux and Windows environments. Have skills and experience with data analysis. Have domain knowledge in ISR processes, systems, platforms, and sensors used by the US military and intelligence community. Have significant experience working within the constraints and responsibilities of handling and transmitting classified data and applying policy and procedures for work in secure areas.
