CEHD Administrative and Development Specialist

The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) is seeking a versatile professional who can provide executive level administrative and fiscal support services to the Development and Alumni Relations team and the Dean's Administrative Manager, while also serving as a welcoming resource for campus and community members. Responsibilities: This key support resource would report to and provide direct support to the Director of Advancement and the Dean's Administrative Manager, ongoing support while also providing as-needed support for the College's human resources, research administration, and accreditation teams. Duties include:

Administrative Support: * Provide executive level administrative support to the Director of Advancement and serve as the administrative backbone to the Development and Alumni Relations team; * Provide administrative support to the Dean's Administrative Manager and to several semi-autonomous teams within the CEHD Dean's office (as noted above); * Respond independently and professionally to written and verbal inquiries and requests from faculty, staff, students, administrators, and individuals and organizations outside the college; * Proactively assist with scheduling and logistically preparing for meetings, events, official business and social functions for internal and external groups and partners; * Appropriately handle confidential information, including diligent filing and shredding of finance, donor and personnel-related material; * Generate development and alumni reports, manage the internal acknowledgement process for development, assist with gifts processing, and serve as point person for faculty requests for information; * Serve as college telecom coordinator and primary backup for the Administrative Manager's essential functions; * Other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement, Dean, Senior Associate Dean, or Administrative Manager.

Fiscal Support: * Purchasing, travel authorizations and reimbursements, food and beverage transactions, and associated payment requests related to the functions noted above; * Student workers and wage employees assigned to assist with these tasks will also need to be trained and closely monitored for accuracy and compliance.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; * Ability to naturally convey positivity and collegiality to coworkers and community members; * High level of versatility and efficiency with respect to the need to work with diverse internal and external constituencies, and to deal with interruptions and shifting priorities in a dynamic office environment; * Because of the service-oriented and consequential nature of the tasks associated with this position, physical presence during standard office hours (M-F 8:30 am - 5:00 pm), precise execution of responsibilities, and respect for confidentiality are particularly important requirements for this job.

Preferred Qualifications: * Working knowledge of Mason administrative and fiscal systems and experience providing simultaneous support to multiple high-level managers; * Working knowledge of development or alumni relations programming.
