Housing Locksmith

The George Mason University Police Department invites applications for the position of Housing Locksmith. The Police Department provides professional law enforcement services to a diverse university population of over 35,000 students, plus faculty and staff. Responsibilities: The locksmith performs installs, maintenance, repairs of locks and keys while concurrently keeping up with related records in the database system. The locksmith services both electronic and mechanical locks for all housing buildings. Additionally, manages and maintains records for the dissemination of physical keys. The locksmith will operate as directed within the university's housing system comprised of over 40 residential facilities throughout all GMU campuses.

* Serves on an On-Call basis during weekends and evenings as necessary.

Required Qualifications: * Hold a valid driver's license; * High school education and related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Successful completion of a polygraph; * Must pass a thorough background check. * No felony convictions or convictions of misdemeanors involving crimes of moral turpitude or gross misconduct;

As part of the interview process, all interviewed candidates will be subject to a polygraph examination.

Preferred Qualifications: * Ability to learn quickly and retain information; * Basic understanding and knowledge of techniques, tools, equipment and safety precautions; * Ability to operate motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery; * Ability to be subjected to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions; * Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crunching, crawling, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. * Ability to manage and maintain an electronic database; * Experience with Microsoft Office, MPulse Software System, RS2, Simple K Software System.
