We are looking for a Structural Analysis Engineer who wants to be one of our leaders in this mission. We are looking for an Analyst who is continually finding ways to improve the analysis process while also providing guidance and mentoring to younger engineers. The Analyst has experience refining the analysis process. We expect the Analyst to have experience with linear, non-linear, static and dynamic analyses. The Analyst must have knowledge of design and analysis of composite materials as well as metallic structures. The Sr. Analyst must have over 5 years of experience identifying failure modes and computing margins of safety against these failure modes. Job Description. The Structural Analysis Engineer provides technical direction to junior engineers. Activities include:. . Review, maintain, and improve in-house analysis process. Ensure our Analysis Process effectively aids in the successful design, analysis, and testing of structural components. . Develop API / Macro applications to improve the quality and analysis time of the structural analysis process. . Design / Review machine parts and assemblies. . Provide mechanical design / integration support and technical expertise to other engineering functions. . Provide stress analysis support and technical expertise to other engineering functions. . Organize, supervise, and ensure the quality of stress reports and formal compliance documents to fulfill the verification requirements. . Integrate the overall structural analysis approach for the system with the project's lead engineer, in accordance with customer requirements. . Strong knowledge of structural analysis including static and dynamic analysis. . Participate in engineering technical reviews and design / product configuration decisions as a subject matter expert. . Continuously improving technical knowledge based on new developments in structural analysis methodologies and software. . Act as a mentor for less experienced design and stress engineers on the team. Key Evaluation Criteria:. . Degreed professional in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. . Demonstrated progression in technical analysis responsibilities. . 5-8 years of experience developing finite element models and analyzing mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems. . Demonstrated experience using PATRAN, FEMAP, and/or NASTRAN for a minimum of 3 years/5000 hours. . Must have experience within NASA or the aerospace industry. . To conform to US Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, protected individual as defined by 8 USC 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the US Department of State.
