The General Superintendent is an integral member of the project team and using their demolition knowledge and expertise is responsible for assisting with the directing, planning, coordination, and safe execution of jobs on-site, as assigned by the VP, Operations and in cooperation with the Project Manager. The General Superintendent will act as a senior resource, helping with technical aspects of demolition, remediation, excavation etc. as assigned and as needed. Provide essential leadership and coaching of all operations personnel. Provide direction, guidance and mentorship to operational staff and site staff regarding structural demolition. Request equipment and manpower. Investigate incidents and change processes as a result of investigations. Advise Operations Team as to most efficient/cost effective ways of performing site work. Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to new and junior Project Managers. Visit work-sites as required and offer guidance regarding work sequencing, best practices, optimal techniques etc. Support with client relationships. Attend various start-up, progression, close-out, in-house, and client meetings as required. Bringing the Black Box to site on the first day. In cooperation with the Project Manager plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones, and monitor progress against established schedules as assigned. Work with the Safety department to develop and maintain safety and quality control plans and programs as required. Facilitate communication and logistics between the field and office. Understand the full scope of each project and educate Project Manager and Foreman as required. Ensure all projects are completed and in compliance with worker Health and Safety as the utmost priority;. Complete site safety inspections as required. Ensure on-site compliance with Regional (provincial and territorial) and other regulatory authorities. Ensure compliance with overall in-house and client Health and Safety Policy and Programs. Report progress and recommend action to the VP, Operations daily. Assist VP, Operations with Overall project schedules and resource planning (manpower and equipment) as required. Requirements. College, University or equivalent degree in a related discipline (ie Construction/Project Management). 7+ years' Project Management/Superintendent experience in the delivery of Demolition/ Construction projects. Ability to analyze and evaluate complex problems and to plan and lead multi-disciplinary teams to execute demolition solutions. Knowledge of environmental legislation, standards, and guidelines related to demolition. Knowledge of the engineering design, tender, and construction management processes and related contractual conditions for a variety of demolition technologies. Ability to delegate and achieve results through others. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated willingness to be adaptable and flexible to changing priorities. Familiarity with demolition methods and legislation. Strong preference will be given to candidates with Viewpoint construction software experience. Team player who is ready and willing to work. Work Conditions. Work in both an office setting and outdoors at multiple construction sites. Work requires frequent travel to work sites to monitor the progress of work and to meet with Site Foremen and/or Clients, and may require out of town travel. Travel is necessary. Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals. Frequently required to sit or stand for long periods. Walking, bending, and kneeling is common. May need to climb ladders or navigate inclined ramps at job sites. Personal protective equipment will be required, eg, steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, hard hat, etc. Disclaimer.
