  The Director of Nursing Practice & Work Environment provides strategic direction for the areas of nursing practice, occupational safety and health, and the nursing work environment. Through the process of research synthesis, analysis, evaluation and critical thinking the NPWE team develops recommendations and positions to advise the ANA leadership and board of directors. This position also responsible for supervising the NPWE team members.

DUTIES    

  • Develop and implement the key activities for NPWE consistent with ANA’s strategic plan. Including efforts to launch and disseminate national standards and policy in a variety of issues including nurse staffing, evolution of nursing practice, patient safety, safe patient handling and mobility, workplace violence and incivility, and nursing scope and standards of practice.          Manage the performance of the NPWE team members and administer a robust professional development, team building and employee engagement program necessary for a high performing team.      

· Manage a portfolio of work associated with advanced practice registered nurse practice.    

· Prepare, monitor and provide forecasting information related to budget(s) required for department activities, including grant funds where needed        

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED 

Education  

Must be a Registered Nurse with an active license. Master’s degree in nursing, education, or public health required, PhD/DNP preferred. If Master’s Degree is not in nursing, then baccalaureate must be in nursing. 

Related Work Experience 

A minimum of ten (10) years of nursing practice-related work with a preference for APRN practice experience with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.

· APRN practice experience.
