About the Position: Located at the Ft Belvoir Community Hospital in Ft Belvoir, VA. Work is performed at a fast paced state of the art medical treatment facility. Work is normally done in a warehouse setting working with and around heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the physical upkeep/housekeeping of the warehouse.
  • Organize stock received in storage with like stock (e.g., of the same stock number, class, etc.).
  • Ensure that expenditures of funds for requisitions are within allotments established by the funds administrator.
  • Process shipping/distribution documents in a timely manner.
  • Provides transport of a variety of supplies to various locations throughout hospital.
  • Identify overages and/or missing items from knowledge of supplies received.
  • Maintain familiarity with commercial carriers (i.e., schedules, services, facilities, rates, fares, charges and traffic management agreements).
  • Prepare transportation discrepancy reports for record.
  • Place incoming supplies in designated storage area (e.g., bins, tables, racks), in accordance with general warehousing regulations.
  • Initiates and completes inventory routing documents.
  • Maintain control of shipments in accordance with specifications provided.
  • Conducts research to plan and determine current and anticipated customer requirements, based on past history.
  • Verify materials received against receipt documentation, such as manifests, delivery receipts, routing slips, or bills of lading.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Appointment may require a suitability/fitness determination.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Handler (MVO) without more than normal supervision. Developing plans with management for storage and arrangement of stock in addition to performing a full range of warehousing duties to include receiving, unloading and delivering a variety of items using material handling equipment such as hand trucks, dollies, forklifts and motor vehicles; verifies materials received against manifests, delivery receipts routing slips or bills of lading; completed routing documents; identifies discrepancies in shipments; ensuring the receipt and distribution of materials; and operating an automated material tracking system. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Working Conditions: Work is performed mostly inside the warehouse. The warehouse may be hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. The work may be dirty or dusty. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises; or falls from ladders.
