Duties

Summary

Establish work schedules and standard operating procedures. Develops budgetary data, evaluate and review financial statements and costs against revenues. Conducts customer surveys, reviews usage/ sales to make appropriate recommendations concerning services, implement various promotion activities to enhance revenue and sustain facility improvements. Observe animals' appearance and activity for obvious signs of illness, disease, discontent, and their general physical condition.

Responsibilities

  • Assign tasks and actively work with staff on monitoring animal care to include items such as feeding specific diets, treatment of animals, cleaning and maintenance of animal quarters to ensure work is done correctly.
  • Supervise assigned staff. Exercise proper handling techniques and use greater strength or agility necessary to capture and restrain stronger or more active, unpredictable or ill-natured animals.
  • Monitor behavior and changes to normal appearances and activities of animals and determine the level of care, feeding, grooming and maintenance required according to individual needs of animals
  • Maintain records, clean and inspect work areas. Assess business operation to ensure that standards are met. Develops, recommends and enforces policies and procedures. Conduct customer surveys, promotion activities, and revenue improvements.
  • Administer oral medications and treat animal illnesses and injuries, following experience or instructions of veterinarians and trained specialists.

Qualifications

Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed.

CANDIDATES WILL BE RANKED AGAINST THE HIGHLY QUALIFIED CRITERIA. ONLY THE MOST HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE INITIALLY REFERRED. IF MANAGEMENT DOES NOT SELECT A HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATE, THEY MAY REQUEST AN ADDITIONAL REFERRAL LIST. HIGHLY QUALIFIED CRITERIA FOR THIS POSITION ARE:

1. Must have two (2) years work experience as a supervisor or manager observing, handling and caring for animals at a Pet Care Boarding Center or facility.

2. Must have one (1) year specialized experience administering oral medications, feeding specific diets or following special sanitary procedures for dogs and cats.

3. Must have one (1) year experience caring for and handling unpredictable or ill-natured animals.

4. Must have one (1) year work experience recognizing, managing and treating observable signs of illness, common diseases, discontent, or the general physical condition of animals.
