THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION

This position is located at the 113th Maintenance Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, MD. The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish maintenance on electronically controlled powered support equipment containing highly complex digital devices and integrated circuits.

Responsibilities

As a(n) POWER SUPPORT SYSTEM MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-5378-10 you will perform the following duties:
Responsible for the accurate interpretation of numerous manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures, to troubleshoot, calibrate, align and repair a variety of highly complex pieces of powered support equipment. Troubleshoots repairs, adjusts and aligns down-sized powered support equipment. Uses a variety of sophisticated testers, to determine repair requirements. Corrects unusual maintenance problems, by interpreting a variety of technical data. Does circuit analyses, considers integrated circuit relationships, and applies electronic principles in order to fault -isolate and repair the various digital devices contained in highly complex powered support equipment. Performs inspections, preventive maintenance, servicing, repair, and adjustments on complex rotary diesel engines. Must independently determine work sequences, specifications, and special procedures to be used to fault-isolate and repair unusual problems in various pieces of powered support equipment. Performs intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment and non-powered AGE. Diagnoses gas turbine malfunctions. Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies and operates aerospace ground equipment. Performs required TCTOs and other modifications on powered support equipment. Performs corrosion control duties.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military rank and assignment in the District of Columbia Air National Guard.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Minimum Rank: E-4/SrA

  • Selected Reserve Incentive Program: Acceptance of this position will cause termination of Federal bonuses pursuant to respective Selected Reserve Incentive Programs (SRIP).

Qualifications

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the DC Air National Guard.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
You must meet the minimum military rank as specified in this announcement. The National Guard's full-time support program requires that all military technicians are members of the National Guard and are appointed to full-time positions which correspond to their military assignments. Other requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within One (1) year of appointment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least Eighteen (18) months of experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
