Job Announcement

Please note this position is a job share, working 20 hours a week. This is a part-time merit position working Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Provides administrative support to the Unit Director, Assistant Director and probation, parole and intake counselors, assisting with the delivery of efficient and effective probation and intake services to the public. Processes legal documentation and all information related to legal and/or non-legal action for intake of juvenile court cases and/or diversion processes, using state and county computer systems with a high degree of accuracy. Maintains calendar and schedules appointments for intakes and diversion assessments for unit staff. Provides follow-up phone contact with other agencies and service providers to verify the completion of sanctions and/or services as part of the diversion process and enters outcomes in a database for statistical purposes. Attends building site and safety meetings and relays pertinent information to the Director and Assistant Director. Submits articles and updates on unit happenings to the agency's Full Court Press newspaper. Provides assistance in resolving computer hardware and/or software issues for staff. Serves as a primary point of contact for all staff. Answers all incoming calls with the ability to use independent judgment concerning critical caseload information. Greets and assists citizens, clients, and other Fairfax County agency personnel. Assists federal, state and local jurisdictions to provide accurate information, and/or refer to the appropriate court and/or county personnel. May be called upon to handle crisis situations with juveniles and/or their parents on-site with other citizens present. Assists with other special projects and/or duties based on the needs of the unit as directed by the Director and Assistant Director.

The assigned functional area(s) are general administrative and processing legal documents.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and one year of experience providing administrative support.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and a check of the Child Protective Services Registry to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent interpersonal skills. Good oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks and requests simultaneously. Experience providing office support and customer service. Familiarity with computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Job is generally sedentary in nature; however, incumbent must be able to lift/move up to 15 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity is required to communicate with other and read data on computer monitor. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Physical requirements can be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
