The Instructional Software Specialist supports the acquisition, support, and use of instructional software applications.
This person collaborates with staff across the organization, including other offices inside the Department of Instruction
and the Department of Digital Innovation to ensure that teachers and students can access and use the software tools
available to them to support student learning.

Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to
the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed
appropriate:

• Acts as a primary point of contact for technical support and instructional support for a variety of software
applications provided by the Department of Instruction.
• Serves as a liaison and initial point of contact between the Department of Instruction and 3rd-party software
providers.
• Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates a variety of learning materials (including videos, user guides and
e-learning resources) to support the use of division-provided instructional software tools.
• Designs and delivers or coordinates professional learning opportunities for teachers and other division staff.
• Assists Department of Instruction staff in analyzing needs and selecting instructional software tools to support
instructional initiatives and curricula.
• Collaborates with Department of Digital Innovation and Department of Instruction staff to manage the process
of reviewing software applications for use by teachers and schools.
• Maintains database of software applications provided by LCPS and reviewed for teacher and school use.
• Supports, as needed, other Educational Technology and Department of Instruction programs and initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master• s degree in Educational Technology
• Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License
• Three years of progressive education experience, including experience with eLearning rapid development tools
(e.g. video creation/screencasting tools, software simulation tools)
• In-depth understanding of adult learning and current trends in educational technology, particularly around
trends in instructional software
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative and leadership skills
• Effective oral and written communication skills

the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers
accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall
and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of
time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift,
carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

This is an Exempt position.
