Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall economic and efficient operation and safety and administration of the Camp Elmore .

Indoor Range consisting of, but is not limited to, the following:

- Planning , organizing work, and managing internal resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies are achueved either directly and/or indirectly through subordinate supervisors and/or managed employees.

- Provides employees with training, work schedules, performance evaluations, and coaching and counseling assigned personnel with recommended personnel actions.

- Manage, maintain property/equipment, and provide advice on repairs, renovations, and improvements.

- Maintains and enforces security for funds, merchandise, supplies, and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste, and abuse.

- Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity policy, and ensures compliance with fire safety, security, and other environmental issues.

- Orders firearms, ammunition, targets, and other accessories for range use and resale. Computes proper markup for pricing of retail products.

- Ensures all standard operating procedures; Marine Corps, state, and federal regulations are followed. Adheres to all HAZMAT protocols according to NAVFAC Environmental Management procedures.

- Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the higher level supervisor.

- Supervises and conducts inspections of rental firearms for safety, repair or replacement.

- Maintain familiarity with the military , National Rifle Association, and Civilian Marksmanship Programs.

- Develops programs, training curriculums, and retail promotions vital to the profitability of the range.

- Communicates with military commands scheduling unit training.

- Plans, organizes, and conducts competitive shooting matches.

- Conducts daily, monthly and as needed inventories.

- Ability to analyze the profit and loss statement in order to identify trends and to recommend changes to improve profitability.

- Maintain retail inventories at levels to ensure items sold at the range are in stock.

Within compliance of World Class Customer Service Standards, provides superior customer service with an emphasis on courtesy. Professionally communicates with each customer. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles, and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems quickly. Alerts higher level supervisor for help when problems arise. Effectively cooperates with fellow associates and managers.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

A minimum of one year of experience in responsible sales and/or retail customer services which included stocking, display, sales, returns, special order, etc. Knowledge of Firearms safety and procedures are preferred. Must be familiar with business mathematics and merchandising methods. Ability to operate a cash register.

Ability to successfully complete and obtain/maintain a favorable background investigation at the Tier 3 security level clearance.

Must be a qualified instructor (Marine Corps Combat Marksmanship Trainer, Navy Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor, National Rifle Association Certified Firearm Instructor, or Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services Firearms Instructor) train the trainer.

This is a "covered position" for the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act for Department of the Navy civilian personnel. Due to contact with firearms, or ammunition in accomplishing work, DD Form 2760 certifying whether or not a "qualifying conviction" for a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence has occurred MUST be completed. The continuing obligation to notify the immediate supervisor of any qualifying conviction through completion of DD Form 2760 is REQUIRED.
