Assistant Director for Financial Well-Being

The George Mason University, Student Support and Advocacy Center is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person for an Assistant Director for Financial Well-Being. The Assistant Director for Financial Well-Being is primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and management of a comprehensive student financial literacy program for the University. The Assistant Director for Financial Well-Being provides educational opportunities and individualized guidance for a diverse audience with needs along a continuum of care. The Assistant Director for Financial Well-Being also provides support for the administration of the Stay Mason Student Support Fund. Duties

* Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive financial literacy program for George Mason University students; * Educate students in one-on-one settings and guide them through their financial obstacles to completing their degree; * Design program content and deliver presentations, trainings, and workshops to various audiences, including at new student orientation and UNIV100 classes; evaluate and assess those outreach efforts for effectiveness and satisfaction in order to stay relevant and responsive to changing student needs; * Design marketing and educational materials; create content for and regularly update the financial literacy web site as well as the social media presence; * Develop a peer education model focused on financial literacy and wellness including recruiting, hiring, training and supervising the Financial Literacy Peer Education Team as its members provide consultation and support to fellow students; * Design the curriculum for and teach a UNIV course on personal finance; * Evaluate the effectiveness of and oversee the administration of a financial literacy virtual platform; report on usage and effectiveness of the platform and provide on-going recommendations on best mechanism to deliver financial literacy and wellness education to a diverse student population; * Serve as administrative support for the administration of the Stay Mason Student Support Fund; communicate with applicants, prepare cases for Review Committee meetings, etc.; * Create learning outcomes and assessment tools for individual and group student education; analyze and report on results of these assessments and make recommendations for improvements of future program delivery; * Foster cross-unit collaborations with key campus stakeholders (Student Financial Aid, Student Accounts, etc.); stay abreast of non-Mason financial resources available to students residing in Fairfax County and connect students with them, as appropriate; * Research and implement federal and state guidelines and recommendations for financial literacy programs as well as University regulations, guidelines and requirements to ensure Mason's program is compliant with governmental and University standards. Required Qualifications

* Master's degree in a business or human services area or a related field; * Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of federal student aid rules and regulations, including Title IV financial aid funding programs and federal loans; * Working knowledge of a broad-rage of key trends, philosophies, and best practices in the field of financial literacy and personal money management. Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience working in financial aid or the financial literacy and wellness field; * Previous work experience with college students; * Previous experience with crisis intervention/response; * Ability to build and maintain successful collaborative relationships in a diverse campus community; * Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; * Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; * Ability to maintain confidential information; * Strong attention to detail and organization; * Ability to operate various software programs, including Pave Software, Ellucian Banner financial aid software, and Microsoft Office products; * Drive and flexibility to work in a high-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
