Responsibilities

  • Conducts reviews, assessments and evaluations of the Small Business Administration IT systems and IT security programs to assess compliance with applicable laws, federal regulations, standards, best practices National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance and other SBA policies.
  • Assesses IT management, operational and technical controls requiring the use of a variety of information security skills acquired through both education, applicable certifications and experience.
  • Provides support and advice to the Director, IT, FM and Audit Operations, senior OIG management and performs other IT related tasks as directed.
  • Leads IT security evaluations and oversees the work of less experienced IT auditors.

Qualifications

GS-13: You must demonstrate one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12GS-12 in the Federal service that is directly in, or related to, the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: leading and performing IT security evaluations, such as policy, risk assessment, and data classification process design using NIST or third-party cybersecurity frameworks; effectively communicates results following Government Auditing or AICPA audit standards.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
