Summary

The Information Technology (IT) Division is responsible for the planning, development and management of the IT systems and subsystems that support the District of Columbia Courts' case flow, office automation, special programs and management operations. The incumbent will serve as a specialist providing network configuration and management support to Court users.

This position is open until filled and resumes will be reviewed every two weeks. The first review date will be October 17, 2019.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be expected to provide outside of hours, on-call support for critical systems on a shift rotation basis and, where necessary, work the occasional weekend/evening to perform maintenance, upgrades, repairs or troubleshooting.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  • Assists in determining the Office 365 (O365)/Azure Cloud Strategy, acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the architecture, planning, implementation and support.
  • Designs, provisions and maintains the data center and end user computing solutions, including numerous virtualization technologies.
  • Creates and maintains documentation for the mail flow and network design, IP address and port traffic data, as well as service communications for the O365 environment.
  • Configures, installs, supports and maintains standard Microsoft server hardware, software and peripherals in both a virtual and non-virtual environment.
  • Monitors the server, storage capacity and performance in both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Diagnoses and resolves Operating System and other server software problems on both physical and virtualized servers.
  • Designs, configures, installs, supports and maintains the Microsoft Active Directory and Single Sign-On functionality as well as Group Policies.
  • Reviews, participates in and makes recommendations regarding the Disaster Recovery Procedures for Microsoft Systems.
  • Participates in compliance and security reviews as necessary.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in IT network administration and troubleshooting.

Knowledge of Office 365 and related technologies such as Active Directory, Azure, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive for Business.

Proficiency in windows systems administration and windows operating systems and hypervisors architecture and knowledge of performance troubleshooting tools.

Detailed knowledge of networking protocols.

Previous experience in Cloud services, specifically Office 365 and Microsoft Azure is required.

Desired Certifications:

2012/2016 or higher Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Systems Expert (MCSE), or comparable certification in Office 365 or Azure

This job is being filled by an alternative hiring process and is not in the competitive Federal civil service.

Please note there is a mandatory one year probationary period for all non-judicial new employees.
