We are in search of an experienced nursing professional to serve as a part-time Nurse Aide Instructor. Reporting to the Health Academy Coordinator, the Nurse Aide Instructor will assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Nurse Aide Training program. The Instructor is responsible for the delivery of instruction which ensures that students develop the required clinical and interpersonal skills needed to be successful as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). They are responsible for assuring regulatory compliance with state and federal instructional guidelines while providing training and evaluating student performance in the classroom, skills lab, and clinical site.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for collaborating with the program team in adhering to DC CNA regulations, designing syllabus and planning lessons

  • Delivers the course curriculum to students in order to build content knowledge and develop clinical skills

  • Evaluates and documents student progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills

  • Provides a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care

  • Oversees the clinical practicum and maintains a cooperative working relationship with clinical site staff

  • Ensures that students learn to treat residents, families and other members of the health care team with dignity and respect in a caring and compassionate environment which recognizes the individual’s needs and rights

  • Assist the program team in maintaining accurate records on all students, such as attendance records, schedules, and course requirements

  • Supports program completion activities such as graduation, recognition ceremonies, and job readiness workshops

  • Actively participate in professional development activities and faculty meetings

  • Assists in the prescreening of CNA candidates as required.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and DC State Board of Nursing licensed with a minimum of (1) one year of teaching experience and a minimum of (2) two years full- time or equivalent clinical experience

    • One year of clinical experience in a management, administrative, or supervisory capacity is preferred

    • Previous experience teaching English language learners is a plus

    • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in

      written communication with students, the program team, and other key stakeholders
