The Therapeutic Nursery Program (TNP) is seeking a teacher's assistant to start as soon as possible. The TNP is a specialized early childhood education program focused on children's social and emotional development. The Lourie Center specializes in supporting children with trauma histories, and supports children with a wide range of social and emotional needs.

The TNP Teacher Assistant:
Works closely with the TNP Lead Teacher in the development and preparation of materials needed for classroom use.
Provide individual and small group instruction to children..
Records observational data on student behavior with the Lead Teacher's and multi-disciplinary team's input.
Assists in the preparation and clean-up of the classroom as per the needs of the curricular task and the needs of the children in the program.
Participates in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings.
Continues professional education in early childhood education or a related discipline by attending internal and external workshops, conferences and trainings.
Maintain professional boundaries with children, families, and colleagues.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher and Director. In the teacher's absence, the Teacher Assistant assumes the role and responsibility as discussed in advance.

Qualified candidate will possess:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or other related discipline.
Basic knowledge of early childhood development is required.
Minimum of one year work experience with early childhood population is required (i.e.: camp counselor, child care work, college practicum experiences)
Must complete and pass the 90 hour Child Development Course (Child Growth & Development-Preschool-45 clock hours and Curriculum & Activities-Preschool-45 clock hours) required through Maryland State Department of Education, Office of Child Care, within the first 90 days of employment.
Have an active American Heart Association BLS CPR card

M-F 8-5pm
