The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Faculty Development Program Manager to join the team in the Office of Transformational Learning. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.

The Faculty Development Program Manager assists and collaborates with faculty at the Robert H. Smith School of Business to deliver effective and engaging instruction. Reporting to the Director of the Office of Transformational Learning (OTL), this position supports the Smith School’s holistic assessment of teaching and Assurance of Learning (AOL) initiatives, offers faculty one-on-one coaching and teaching workshops, works collaboratively with the instructional design team to support course development efforts, trains graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants, participates in committees relevant to the mission of OTL, and manages ad hoc teams to achieve OTL project goals. The Faculty Development Program Manager is a recognized authority on learning and teaching in higher education.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree required. 3-5 years of experience in faculty and graduate student development. Must possess two years of demonstrated excellence in teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level. Demonstrated success in working with faculty, TAs, or other instructional staff to improve teaching and learning; knowledge of current models of instructional development and professional development for faculty and graduate students. Knowledge of research, innovations, and best practices in higher education teaching and learning; ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data from diverse sources using a variety of research methodologies; excellent consultation, organizational, interpersonal, collaborative, and presentation skills. Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; to lead; to develop and coordinate programs.

Preferred Qualifications: Ed.D or Ph.D in an education-related field (i.e., educational psychology, curriculum and instruction, cognitive psychology, higher education, instructional design) or candidates who are ABD or showing adequate progress toward a Ph.D or Ed.D in an education-related field. Experience in a Research I university as a graduate student or instructor; faculty coaching or leadership experience in higher education; experience supporting blended and flipped courses in a higher education environment Experience in developing and managing undergraduate teaching assistants. Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses/topics in education (e.g., achievement motivation, pedagogy, cognitive development and learning); experience in working successfully with diverse students; knowledge of business fields and case methodology; experience with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas).

The salary for this position will be in the high 80’s to low $90’s. The University also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 22 Days Annual Leave; 15 Days Sick Leave; 3 Days Personal Leave; 15 Paid Holidays; Tuition Remission; Health, Dental, Vision and Prescription coverage.
