The Kennedy Center, which opened on September 8, 1971, is located on 17 acres overlooking the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. Job Description:

The Ticketing Services Associate will administer aspects of Web site content management system (CMS) in sync with Marketing, Web Team, and Programming. Create Rental event box office setups in sync with Booking Office; provide sales and performance information to Rental presenters. Assist Director of Ticketing Services and Customer Service Manager, assuming primary responsibility when necessary for some functions. Assist as backup in areas of Sales Services and Advertising when necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

70% Draft Tessitura-built events into Web site content management system (CMS) and maintain accuracy of certain event details. Coordinate with Marketing, Advertising, and IT to ensure KC events are web-ready for season and other on-sale announcements. Create box office setups for certain KC events and for all outside Rental events. Create and maintain KC web pages for all Rental events. Serve as intermediary between Booking and the box office for Rental presenters; provide timely sales reports to outside presenters; monitor their events through performance date. Coordinate closely with Education staff to create box office setups for school shows.

15% Deliver to theater managers or place windowcard posters in theater cases; ensure WCs for weekend performances are delivered. Cover placement and scheduling of 3-sheet posters when Advertising staff are away. Prepare monthly WC schedules for Advertising and Print Shop. Handle requests for donations to benefit auctions. Order supplies for Sales Services.

10% Provide sales reports for all outside presenters ranging from full-season constituents to one-night rentals. Respond to outside presenter communications; refer to Booking or the relevant box office when necessary.

5% Assist in other areas of Sales Services, Marketing, Customer Service as needed.

N/A Responds to the needs and requests of Kennedy Center management and staff in a professional and expedient manner; Adheres to all employer policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in an arts-related field
  • 1-2 years' experience in customer service
  • Strong knowledge of the performing arts
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Basic knowledge of ticketing systems


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and on the telephone. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to operate computer keyboard, office equipment, and other essential tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. This position infrequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is not unusual for an office environment shared by many individuals.

This position requires walking around the building when delivering window cards and three sheets to theater managers and stage door personnel.
