Responsibilities

This is a Direct Hire Public Notice, under this recruitment, applications will be accepted for each location and/or installation identified in this Public Notice and selections are made for vacancies as they occur. There may or may not be actual/projected vacancies at the time you submit your application.

This position is located in the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Office of the Principal Deputy Director, Security Integration and Technology, Mission Integration, Force Protection Technology Division. This position serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist developing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.

Your typical work assignments may include the following:
  • Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist developing polices and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data.
  • Serves as the Deputy Senior Information Assurance Officer (DSIAO) responsible for the development and maintenance of information system-level IA programs that include architecture, certification and accreditation, requirements, objectives, policies, personnel, processes and procedures.
  • Serves as technical expert in the area of information security, network security, monitoring, penetration testing and vulnerability assessment.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
  • Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;
  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services;
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately;
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
    One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in: 1) applying Information Technology principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system; 2) applying knowledge of contract law, the Federal Acquisition Register, and contracting administrative processes.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Current or Former Political Appointees: Beginning January 1, 2010, agencies must seek prior approval from OPM before they can appoint a current or recent political appointee to a competitive or non-political excepted service position at any level under the provisions of title 5, United States Code.     PPP PILOT: The Washington Headquarters Service is currently operating under an approved reengineered Priority Placement Program (PPP) pilot for all positions in its serviced workforce.
