Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level 3 within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA SD-SD32.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support and guidance to staff in matters relating to information technology (IT) issues that involve a wide range of IT management that typically extend and apply to an entire organization or major components of an organization.
  • Develops policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility.
  • Implements, maintains, and conducts on-site and remote analyses of information system standard security products and associated systems.
  • Presents high level recommendations to senior staff as well as detailed instructions to the technical staff.
  • Develops, evaluates, and implements security products, procedures and requirements to ensure compliance with DOD Cyber-security policies and to insure DOD systems meet applicable integrity requirements.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of security solutions for customers to resolve security problems.
  • Conducts in-depth evaluations of the operating system and standard applications using specialized security evaluation or government developed evaluation tools to determine the security posture of the evaluated system.

Qualifying Experience:
For the GG-14 position, you must have 52 weeks of applicable experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience may have been acquired in any Federal, Military, or Private sector but clearly demonstrates past experience to successfully perform the duties of this position. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: Ensuring information systems reliability and accessibility and preventing and defending against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data, conducting risk and vulnerability assessments.

Candidates must describe how they meet the 52 weeks of qualifying experience within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GG-14 grade level.

  • A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.

  • This is an Information Security (INFOSEC) position. In accordance with DoD 8570.1-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selectee must meet Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, selected must meet Information Assurance Certification standards. Selectee must have an approved waiver prior to placement in this position or achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of IA duties. Level 1 certification is required prior to be authorizing unsupervised privileged access.
  • This is a DISA acquisition workforce DAWIA position in the Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics. Selectee must be level 1 certified (or eligible for certification within 24 months of appointment) in the Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics career field.
  • The Department of Defense (DoD) policy on employment of annuitants issued March 18, 2004 will be used in determining eligibility of annuitants. It applies to former Federal civilian employees receiving a retirement annuity from the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund that are hired within the DoD on or after November 24, 2003. The policy also applies to annuitants (appointed in DoD on/or after November 24, 2003) who move from one position to another within DoD through voluntary reassignment, promotion, change to lower grade or transfer between military departments.
