Systems and Applications Architect (P4) Job Summary The Systems and Applications Architect will contribute to all phases of the system development life-cycle, leading integrated project teams working on infrastructure services and associated applications. Applications architects require a high level of technical expertise, combined with excellent planning, coordination and communication skills, and the ability to work on teams. Job Responsibilities ** = Top requirement * **Designing major aspects of the architecture of an application, including components such as user interface, middleware and infrastructure. * **Must understand and take into account the needs of all roles in a project, such as end users, project sponsor, UX designer, developer, programmers and QA. * Perform as Lead Project Engineer leading the design efforts for multiple systems and system of systems level projects. * Facilitate value discussion with business stake-holders at all organizational levels to analyze and document system specifications to meet business requirements. * Leading, and collaborating with, other members of the Engineering team in the development of technical architecture proposals. * Create functional, interface and infrastructure requirements for all system components * Collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure the applications architecture is aligned with business requirements. * Analyze complex business problems to be solved with automated systems * Lead cross-functional teams in supporting operational systems - analyzing system issues and future enhancements. * Provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements * Use an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on customer needs and requirements, to design, develop, document and test hardware and/or software systems ranging from the straightforward to extremely complex * Deliver cost efficiencies by migrating the product portfolio over time towards a common target architecture where it makes sense to do so. * Ensure that design and development work undertaken by others within the Engineering team is aligned to the approved technical architecture for a given project/program. * Contribute to the development of user documentation and training materials and provide end-user training * Must take the initiative in driving technical discussions with the relevant parties and not wait to be invited. * Ensure that uniform application design standards are maintained * Author, champion and have strong opinions on architectural standards and engineering best practices. * Act as a mentor to more junior engineers in all areas of the systems development life cycle. Required Experience * Ten (10) or more years of systems engineering and/or applications development and integration engineering experience through all phases of the SDLC life cycle and with broad knowledge of core IT technologies including networks, servers, storage, and application security. * Five (5) or more years of experience with developing and managing technical requirements, including the use of requirements management tools. * Experience of using Visio and other contemporary tools for capturing architectural designs. * **Must be able to use independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time, under general supervision. * **Must possess the ability to articulate ideas in both business and technical terms, both orally and in writing, according to the audience. * Must be comfortable with presenting at customer-facing events and situations. * Possess the ability to clearly communicate their ideas to designers and developers, securing and sustaining their buy-in. * Must be able to clearly depict and convey understanding of technical architecture using a wide range of design notations and artifacts, as applicable to the audience. Other Requirements * Willing and able to travel when required. * A detailed knowledge of the Airport and Air Transport Industry domain s is desirable. * Ability to listen and be comfortable with their ideas being constructively challenged. * A career path that has provided exposure to and experience of employing a broad spectrum of technologies. Education * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline. #LI-CB1
