This position is located in Washington, DC and requires the application of an in-depth understanding of modeling and simulation (M&S) theory, design of experiments, operations research, optimization, and demonstrated program management expertise in challenging and demanding work environments. Responsibilities The Modeling and Simulation Lead will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering modeling and simulation milestones for one of our DOD clients. The Lead position is a demanding, multi-faceted job requiring the skills of an experienced leader, manager, business developer, and subject matter expert skilled in project management. Key responsibilities include: Leadership: Lead and mentor a group of talented consultants with varying levels of experience and background; build capacity of staff to advance the business in a way that aligns to the firm's strategic plan; mentor junior staff, and participate in corporate initiatives as needed/requested. Demonstrated experience in clear communication with clients, and the ability to bridge qualitative requirements from the customer into technical descriptions and strategy for the technical staff.Project Delivery: Operate within high-pressure work environment, leading the delivery of high quality deliverables, on time and within budget, while establishing project efficiencies and managing key client relationships to ensure client satisfaction. Drive efficiencies in execution of a firm fixed price contract while maintaining a high level of performance.Administration: Comply with all administrative corporate reporting and compliance requirements.Technical: Deep experience with advanced analytics techniques (eg, modeling and simulation, design of experiments, operations research, optimization) and experimental mindset for approaching problems.Developing input data sets for large-scale simulation analyses, from multiple data sources with diverse formats, and performing quality assurance on that data.Leveraging design of experiments thinking to develop appropriate parameter sweep scenarios to best generate optimal and prescriptive decision making insights.Interpreting simulation output to clearly identify findings, caveats, assumptions, and implications.Transforming simulation data and analysis outputs into clear data visualizations and/or reports to communicate findings.Deriving analytic narratives from experiment insights for effective storytelling and clear communication in response to specific research questions. Qualifications Demonstrated experience of 5+ years managing people and technical projects, preferably M&S projects.Demonstrated experience with computational experimentation with large-scale simulation models for determining optimal allocation and planning of resources within transportation networks.Demonstrated command of the core principles of effective management and leadership, including the ability to effectively prioritize, delegate, and manage competing priorities and a multitude of ongoing administrative, client delivery, and business development-related tasks.Bachelor's degree or higher in operations research, data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, physics, computer science, engineering, or other quantitative discipline.Expertise in modeling and simulation theory and methods (eg, discrete-event simulation) and considerations specific to stochastic modeling, for example, best practices related to random number generators, random seed, steady state, and replications.Experience with programming (eg, Python, Java, R).Experience with commercial simulation modeling platforms. Experience working with large and diverse data sets and database technologies. Working knowledge of SQL is preferred.Superior communication skills, both oral and written.Secret clearance required.
