Office of Student Affairs - Academic Advisor
The George Mason University, Office of Student Affairs in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) invites applications for the position of Academic Advisor. Academic Advisors support the enrollment and retention objectives of the college, and report to the CHHS Director of Student Success.

Responsibilities: Advising currently enrolled students; helping students explore academic and career interests, using student information systems (currently Banner and EAB Navigate) to track and monitor student academic progress; explaining educational options, academic requirements, and university policies and procedures; maintaining student confidentiality; providing accurate records and data reports; supporting student retention by working with students in academic difficulty and recommending appropriate action; updating and preparing advising materials; organizing and conducting orientation programs for newly admitted students, and supporting student-focused events in the College.
Some evening and weekend work is required
Required Qualifications: The selected candidates will thrive in a fast-paced, student-centered environment; and have exceptional writing, communication and interpersonal skills. Must have a master's degree and a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with a background in academic advising, student success or a CHHS discipline (Social Work, Public Health, Health Administration, Nutrition, Nursing and Rehabilitation Science) are preferred.
