Marshall Hotels & Resorts, a premier management company responsible for performance in an eclectic group of branded and independent hotels throughout the United States, is seeking a Catering Sales Manager in Gaithersburg MD at the Hilton Washington DC North, located on Perry Parkway which will begin to transform into the DoubleTree by Hilton with a $14M renovation completed by end of 2019. The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of previous Catering Sales Management experience, including 1-year experience with the Hilton Brand. JOB REQUIREMENTS The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for working with hotel sales department, clients and operations departments to plan and execute successful events. This position requires a food and beverage background, experience in hotel sales and exceptional managerial skills: You would be responsible for soliciting, securing and responding to customer inquiries regarding the purchase of food and beverage and use of event facilities. A strong history of capturing revenues in an effort to exceed catering sales booking and consumption goals. Travel to meet with or call individual clients by telephone to solicit annual, weekday and weekend business. Meet and greet clients, conduct property tours, and promote facilities and services. Answers client inquiries. Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Develop custom menus with culinary staff, write contracts and letters, and sometimes assist with organizing all other arrangements as they relate to social and corporate events. Work closed with Convention Services in accurate communication for service planning and implementation. Ensure all site inspections and client visits to the hotel are successful by planning carefully and communicating accurate details in advance to all departments. Assist sales staff in developing and continually enhancing relationships with key corporate, business and travel industry accounts to maintain and increase our market share. Ability to understand and communicate key information in the negotiation and contract stages including a strong understanding of company policies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all property offerings, food & beverage minimums, room rentals, hotel rates, strategies, discounts/promotions, meeting space layout and capacities, catering menus with pricing and any in-house events taking place. Perform administrative duties relevant to account responsibilities in compliance with corporate guidelines. Maintain accurate, legible records and files to provide sales history and continuity of quality service. Fill in and support coworkers and team as needed to ensure efficient operation. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned and participate in task forces and committees as requested by management. QUALIFICATIONS Outstanding customer service skills and ability to attend to guests and associates in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner. Exceptional communications skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professionals and hotel guests. Must be able to speak, read, write and communicate in English to perform the duties of the job. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Must have a minimum of 2 years as Catering Sales Manager experience. A minimum of 2 years working in Hospitality with a known brand. Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred.
