Laboratory Manager

George Mason University Student Health Services seeks a Lab Manager for the Fairfax campus with occasional travel to our Arlington and Science and Technology (formerly Prince William) campus locations.

Responsibilities: Following policies and procedures and applicable lab standards under the supervision of the SHS Executive Director (also referred to as Lab Director), the Lab Manager is responsible for laboratory maintenance, quality assurance, and performing laboratory tests utilizing required lab equipment and instruments. The Lab Manager is also responsible for training staff and students' basic laboratory skills and assessing competency for lab procedures appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications: * A bachelor's degree in medical technology or science; or professional certification * Demonstrated years of laboratory experience including phlebotomy * Knowledge of medical terminology * Experience performing laboratory tests which may include, CLIA waived testing and phlebotomy, following established procedures or protocols. * Experience with quality control and adjustments of lab equipment * Independent, detail-oriented and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot lab problems * Willingness to work irregular hours, * Be available on-call on weekends and evenings for consultation * Ability to spend many hours standing to perform job duties

Preferred Qualifications: * Excellent communications skills and team-oriented, ability to work within a multidisciplinary clinic * Current CPR certification; * Experience and knowledge working with college students * Experience with Electronic Health Records. * Experience with AAAHC or similar accreditation reviews * Experience training or administering lab proficiency testing for staff/students
