The George Mason University seeks a Communications Assistant Director, Web Specialist for the C. Boyden Gray Center for the Study of the Administrative State on the Arlington, VA., campus.

Reporting to the Gray Center's Executive Director, the Communications Assistant Director, Web Specialist will serve as the Executive Director's primary assistant director for all communications, and in that role will have primary responsibility for all aspects of the Gray Center's online communications: maintaining and improving the Center's web site and social media accounts; publishing the Center's email newsletter and event notices; promoting the Center's events on campus; publishing the Center's printed materials; coordinating with the Center's third-party videographers and other consultants in order to produce the Center's videos and podcasts; and monitoring the Center's analytic data to optimize all offerings.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Maintaining and improving the Gray Center's web site and social media; * Producing the Gray Center's email communications; * Producing the Gray Center's printed materials; * Publishing the Gray Center's scholarly research.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Excellent organizational skills, with the proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively; * Self-starter, highly motivated and detail oriented; * Ability to interact with people at all levels, including high-level officials in government and academia, in a professional manner and in different settings; * Excellent written and oral communication skills; * Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends; * Experience designing or managing WordPress sites.

Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with Microsoft Office products, as well as strong database experience; * Experience with Adobe InDesign; * Experience with HTML and CSS; * Experience with Eventbrite, Salesforce, and similar software platforms; * Experience with graphic design; * Experience with photography, videography, and media editing; * Basic understanding of SEO. ** This is not a supervisory position.
