Scholarships & Funding Officer

The Global Education Office at George Mason University is hiring a Scholarship & Funding Officer to administer and promote all Global Education Office scholarships and develop new scholarships and grants. The Scholarships & Funding Officer is responsible for the administration and promotion of all Mason Study Abroad scholarships and grants, as well as the development of new funding opportunities. The Scholarships & Funding Officer creates and processes student scholarship and grant applications, arranges and maintains selection committees, prepares materials for those selection committees, prepares notifications to students, manages award requirements and payments, records funding recommendations, prepares reports to donors and maintains informational materials on all funding opportunities through Global Education Office. In conjunction with the Office of University Advancement and Alumni Relations, this position will also develop plans for annual fundraising and carry out the implementation of these plans. Fundraising will include grant writing initiatives.

Development Roles & Responsibilities: * Develop plans for annual fundraising and carry out the implementation of these plans; * Work with colleges and department's development staff; * Identify fundraising opportunities; * Develop and implement donor communication plan, maintain donation presence on website; * Manage multi-year scholarship award requirements and payments; and * Prepare reports for donors as applicable.

Scholarship Administration Roles & Responsibilities: * Administer all the Global Education Office's grant and scholarship programs, including affiliated grants and scholarships; * Manage donor-advised grant recommendations; * Annually determine funding available for each grant and scholarship program; * Publicize grant and scholarship opportunities through press releases, newsletter articles, website postings, flyers, postcards, social media outlets, etc.; * Provide technical assistance to grant seekers and grantees; * Manage grant and scholarship application process, including the screening of all applications for eligibility; * Preparation of materials for grant review and scholarship selection committee members; * Arrange and attend committee meetings; record funding recommendations; * Responsible for administration of all grant and scholarship database applications, including creation of scholarship applications in system and final funding recommendations; * Prepare notification letters to applicants; including any agreements as well as payment request, photo consent and report forms for grantees; and * Responsible for updating and keeping current the Global Education Office's website related to grant and scholarship programs.

Perform other duties or projects as assigned by the Executive and Associate Directors.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently on a wide variety of tasks, is organized, highly detailed oriented, and self-motivated. This person will need to have excellent communication skills (both oral and written), the confidence to reach out and speak to potential donors in person and on the telephone, and a creative approach to fundraising.

Required Qualifications: * Demonstrated years of related work experience; * Experience with Funding and Scholarship administration; * Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word, TerraDotta and experienced in database management; * Demonstrated administrative or project management skills; * Strong written and verbal communication skills; * Highly organized and detail oriented; * Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications: * Work experience at a university preferred
