Marketing Manager, Advancement & Alumni Relations

George Mason University, School of Business, invites applications for the position of Marketing Manager, Advancement & Alumni Relations. This position will identify, develop, manage and evaluate marketing and communications content, brand strategies, and programs in support of Advancement goals and priorities, including a capital campaign, to further the department's goal of building and strengthening relationships with its various constituencies.

Responsibilities: The Marketing Manager, Advancement & Alumni Relations has responsibilities in the following areas:

Writing: * Write feature stories for donor/alumni magazine (Impact) and newsletters; profiles of alumni, donors, and student scholarship recipients; appeals, letters, recognition pieces, printed collateral, and communications to advisory boards and campaign prospects; * Copy edit all materials (Impact, emails, design files, information on the School's website) related to Advancement and Alumni Relations; and * Manage the School's website related to Advancement and Alumni Relations work.

Events: * Utilize graphic design to market events (social media, Mason TV ads, Braddock road sign, programs); * Draft materials related to event registrations and post on University's Imodules marketing and event registration platform; and * Order event collateral and promotional items.

Marketing: * In coordination with the Campaign Director, design and implement a strategic marketing plan for School's capital campaign, incorporating new School and campaign branding and messaging; * Draft appeals and manage segmentation/suppression for email appeals, registration for events and mailing lists for newsletters; * Update alumni and attendee contact information in Salesforce; and * Manage on-site projects, including videos for events, fundraising, alumni, stewardship and scholarships.

Communications: Strategically communicate with the various constituencies to cultivate and steward them in the following manner: * Advisory boards through newsletters or letters from the dean; * Donors with updates, Impact articles, and recognition pieces; * Prospects though proposals; * Alumni groups via Impact articles and event messaging; * Internal constituencies with pieces tailored to faculty, staff or potential donors to their programs; * Establish and implement a communications plan to include deadlines for creation of content and timely evaluation of effectiveness of print and online communications; * Produce campaign related materials including: mini-case statements, boiler plate and one-page summaries of school statistics, donor profiles, brand-sensitive materials with graphics and messaging; and * Work with central advancement for fundraising and stewardship content (website, Spirit, Giving Day).

Appeals, Awards, and Social Media: * Manage appeal process for CYE, FYE and Giving Day, sponsorships, Prominent Patriots, Alumni Chapter elections/nominations, new alumni emails and * Produce, place, and manage social media content related to Advancement activities, donors, alumni and events.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; * Advanced writing and editing skills; * Strong marketing and communications experience related to Advancement; * Email communication and website skills and experience (including content management systems, email marketing tools, Dreamweaver, Google Analytics, social media); * Experience managing social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.); * Graphics and image creation experience (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere); * Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills; * Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to donor interests and confidentiality; and * Ability to work collaboratively with teams in a fast-paced and deadline sensitive environment.

Preferred Qualifications: * Advanced Microsoft Office skills; * Experience with Salesforce; * Participation in strategic communications campaigns and measuring the results of such campaigns; and * Superb oral and written communication skills.
